National Standouts: High School Athletes Who Impressed This Week

Across the country, high school athletes continue to push the boundaries of excellence, delivering jaw-dropping performances in baseball, track, and softball.

From record-breaking achievements to game-changing moments, these student-athletes have demonstrated skill, perseverance, and remarkable talent on the field and in competition.

Here’s a look at some of the top standout performers this past week.

National High School Boys Athletes of the Week: Apr. 28

1. Dylan Parente, sr., Rock Creek (Indiana) baseball

Parente achieved the remarkable feat of throwing the first no-hitter in his program’s history during an 11-0, five-inning shutout of Cannelton. He again demonstrated his dual threat by striking out 11 and batting 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.

2. Ike Ackerman, sr., Omaha Central (Nebraska) track

Ackerman, an Ohio football signee, shattered the Nebraska Class A shot put record with a distance of 65 feet, 4 inches at the Omaha Central Jo Dusatko Invitational, placing him fifth nationally this year. He also claimed first place in the discus with a throw of 192-9.

3. William King IV, sr., Dickinson (Texas) track

King IV clocked the fastest 300 hurdles time in the nation this season at the 6A Region III meet with a remarkable time of 36.15 seconds.

4. Blake Bowman, jr., Prattville Christian Academy (Alabama) baseball

Bowman delivered a perfect game, recording 15 strikeouts in a 5-0 victory over Childersburg, including an immaculate inning featuring three strikeouts on just nine pitches.

5. Joseph Moreno, sr., South Hills (California) baseball

Moreno also made headlines by throwing a no-hitter, striking out 11 during a solid 7-0 win against Los Altos.


National High School Girls Athletes of the Week: Apr. 28

1. Camryn Fisher, sr., Ellington (Connecticut) softball

Fisher, after an awe-inspiring 21-strikeout perfect game last week, excelled once again with a Connecticut single-game record of 37 strikeouts against Hale Ray, allowing only two hits and a walk in 14 innings for a 1-0 win.

2. Emma Davies, fr., Ursuline (Ohio) softball

Davies also shined on the field, striking out 24 batters and allowing just one earned run and three hits over two games, while batting 3 for 8 and bringing in three RBIs.

3. Lily Jahne, sr., Hale Ray (Connecticut) softball

Jahne was just as formidable in the opposing game against Camryn Fisher, striking out 33 batters without giving up a hit or walk in a gripping 14-inning clash. Jahne is headed to St. John’s.

4. Elysse Diaz, jr., Granada Hills Charter (California) softball

Diaz put together an impressive 4 for 4 night at the plate, adding a double and two RBIs in a close 5-4 win over Downey.

5. Kayla Giddings, sr., San Marino (California) softball

Giddings had a stellar performance in her matchups with Monrovia, La Canada, and Alhambra, going 8 for 11 with nine steals, seven runs, and four RBIs. She now holds the record with 58 career steals, the most in San Marino history.
